Advent Day 17 | 2024 | The God who Sees
Welcome to Advent—a season of fierce grace and unyielding joy. Stop. Breathe it in. The King has come, triumphing over the grave and reigning on high. Together, let’s follow the trail of His glory, stepping into the story of the Child who broke the back of darkness and carried the weary to freedom. May these devotions be a lantern for your path and a spark for your wonder.
Hagar’s story begins in pain. A servant, mistreated and abandoned, flees into the wilderness. Alone and desperate, she has no plan, no hope, and no future—until the God who sees speaks. He doesn’t just see her situation; He sees her. He calls her by name. She has not been forgotten. The God of heaven knows her, cares for her, and will provide for her.
Advent is a reminder that the God who saw Hagar in her wilderness sees you in yours. The struggles you think no one notices – He sees. The tears you cry in the silence of the night? He knows. But His seeing isn’t passive, it’s active. The God who sees, acts. And His greatest act was sending His Son to step into our pain and rescue us from it.
The Child in the manger is proof that you are not invisible to God. He sees every detail of your life, and He loves you with a love that doesn’t look away. So today, lift your eyes to Him, knowing that you are fully seen and fully loved.
Prayer
Lord, You are the God who sees me. Thank You for knowing my heart, my struggles, and my needs. Teach me to rest in Your care and rejoice in Your presence. Amen.
Action Point
Take time today to reflect on how God has seen and cared for you. Reach out to someone who feels unseen and remind them of God’s love.
