Advent Day 14 | 2024 | He is the Way
Welcome to Advent—a season of fierce grace and unyielding joy. Stop. Breathe it in. The King has come, triumphing over the grave and reigning on high. Together, let’s follow the trail of His glory, stepping into the story of the Child who broke the back of darkness and carried the weary to freedom. May these devotions be a lantern for your path and a spark for your wonder.
The world is full of roads. Some are paved with good intentions, others with ambition, pride, or fear. They crisscross and spiral, promising everything and delivering nothing. We walk them, hoping they’ll lead somewhere—to peace, to joy, to meaning. But no matter how many miles we cover, no matter how fast we run, those paths always end the same way – nowhere.
And then there’s Christ. He doesn’t offer you a map or a signpost. He doesn’t say, “Here’s the way—good luck!” He says, “I am the way.” Christ isn’t just the path you walk—He’s the path that carries you, lifting you out of darkness and leading you unerringly to the Father. He doesn’t point to life; He is life. He doesn’t just show you the way out of darkness; He steps into it and brings you with Him into the light.
The Way isn’t easy. It’s not free from sharp rocks or steep climbs. But it is sure. The Child in the manger walked the hardest road first—obedience that led to death, death that led to life. And now He calls you to follow, not into ease, but into glory. Christ is the Way that never falters, never deceives, never ends in despair. Bonhoeffer famously said, “When Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die”. To die to sin, and to live to Christ.
Advent reminds us to stop wandering the world’s crumbling paths and step onto the only Way that leads home – Jesus Christ.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, You are the Way, the Path that leads me to the Father. Teach me to walk with You, to trust Your steps, and to follow where You lead, even when the road is hard. Thank You for being the Way that never fails. Amen.
Action Point
Pause today and think about the paths you’ve been walking. Are you chasing empty promises or following the One who gives life? Surrender your wandering and step into the Way that is Christ.
