Advent Day 23 | 2024 | A Celebration of Adoption
Welcome to Advent—a season of fierce grace and unyielding joy. Stop. Breathe it in. The King has come, triumphing over the grave and reigning on high. Together, let’s follow the trail of His glory, stepping into the story of the Child who broke the back of darkness and carried the weary to freedom. May these devotions be a lantern for your path and a spark for your wonder.
Adoption is at the heart of Christmas. The Child born in Bethlehem didn’t come just to save us from sin—He came to make us part of His family. Through Christ, we are no longer strangers, no longer bound by fear, but welcomed as sons and daughters of the King.
Think about the beauty of adoption. It’s a choice, an act of grace. God didn’t have to bring us into His family, but He delighted to do so. He sent His Son to bear the cost of our redemption so that we could cry out, “Abba, Father.” This is the miracle of Christmas: the King of Kings steps down to bring us home.
Advent calls us to live in the joy of our adoption. We are heirs of His kingdom, adopted heris, loved beyond measure, and secure in His embrace. And as we celebrate, we are called to extend this same love to others—to welcome, to include, and to reflect the heart of the Father who has welcomed us.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for adopting me into Your family through Christ. Teach me to live as Your child, rejoicing in Your love and sharing it with others. Help me to reflect Your grace in how I welcome and love those around me. Amen.
Action Point
Consider how you can reflect God’s heart of adoption this Christmas. Reach out to someone who may feel alone or forgotten, and remind them of the love of the Father who calls us His own.
