Advent Day 19 | 2024 | The God who Fights for Us
Welcome to Advent—a season of fierce grace and unyielding joy. Stop. Breathe it in. The King has come, triumphing over the grave and reigning on high. Together, let’s follow the trail of His glory, stepping into the story of the Child who broke the back of darkness and carried the weary to freedom. May these devotions be a lantern for your path and a spark for your wonder.
Israel stood trapped between the Red Sea and Pharaoh’s army, their freedom seemingly short-lived. Fear gripped their hearts, but Moses delivered a stunning promise: “The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” And then, God acted. The sea split, the enemy was swallowed, and His people walked to safety on dry ground.
Advent reminds us that the same God who fought for Israel fights for us. The Child born in Bethlehem came as both Saviour and Warrior, not to wield earthly weapons but to conquer the greatest enemies of all—sin, death, and the devil. His victory wasn’t marked by a battlefield but by an empty tomb.
When you feel surrounded by the enemy—by fear, doubt, or circumstances beyond your control—remember that the battle is the Lord’s. Christ fought the ultimate battle on your behalf, and He continues to fight for you every day. Rest in His strength, knowing that the God who fights never fails.
Prayer
Lord, You are the God who fights for me. Thank You for winning the victory over sin and death. Teach me to trust in Your strength and rest in Your promises. Amen.
Action Point
Reflect on an area where you need God to fight for you. Pray and trust Him with it, knowing the battle belongs to Him.
